High School STEM Days are a once-a-month event for local public high school students to visit the Lab. This event; co-hosted by K-12 Programs at the main lab campus, is a chance to share what life in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and STEM adjacent professions are like. This is an exciting opportunity to speak with students as they are deciding for themselves what it means to be a STEM professional. This year we have partnered with various industry partners across the EmeryStation Research Group campus (near JBEI in Emeryville) in October and Aquatic Park Research park (near Potter st. in Berkeley) in January!
We are seeking Berkeley Lab staff to chaperone a group of high school students to different tours in EmeryStation/JBEI on Wednesday October 16 and Aquatic Park/Potter st. on Wednesday January 15th.
Chaperones: The tours will be about 2 hours, including welcome and orientation. We ask all volunteers to arrive During this time you will join a group of high school students and their school chaperones on tours and activities with industry partners and LBNL facilities. Students should have a chance to touch, engage, tour and ask questions. Each volunteer will join about 20 students plus 2 adults. This is a great chance to check out what other parts of LBNL and industry partners are up to.
