Seeking Job Shadow Hosts for High School STEM Days

Expired

Description

High School STEM Days are a once-a-month event for local public high school students to visit the Lab. This event; co-hosted by K-12 Programs at the main lab campus, is a chance to share what life in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and STEM adjacent professions are like. This is an exciting opportunity to speak with students as they are deciding for themselves what it means to be a STEM professional.

We are seeking volunteers in all lab positions. All staff in STEM and STEM adjacent careers are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Job Shadowing: The tour/shadowing will be about 2 hours, including transit to and from Building 50 or Building 67's Auditoriums (TBD). During this time you can show your day-to-day job, you can talk about your pathway as you tour around your workspace and encourage interactions between students and colleagues. REMINDER THAT THIS IS NOT A LECTURE. Students should have a chance to touch, engage, tour and ask questions. Each volunteer will have about 5 to 8 students. We will need approximately 5-10 volunteers for the 2 job shadow sessions during the day. Each volunteer can choose to volunteer for either one or both of the job shadow sessions during the day.

Morning shift starts at 10 am and Afternoon shift starts at 1pm.
