The Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI) has a table at the Hijas del Campo Career Exploration Fair on April 23 and is encouraging Spanish/English bilingual folks from the lab to volunteer at the table.
Las Hijas del Campo is a non-profit organization that supports Bay Area farm workers with nutritional, medical, and other vital needs. They have recently begun offering educational coaching for farm workers and their children and are having their first career fair.
We are looking for bilingual folks to lead hands-on science activities, talk about STEM careers, and working at Berkeley Lab.
This event is in Oakley and we are planning to arrange a car pool to get to the event.
The general schedule of the day will be:
- 11:25-12:25pm Round Table Activity I (high school/college) - jello microfluidics
- 11:25a-12:25pm Round Table Activity I (middle school) - pipetting
- 12:25pm - 1:25p Lunch/Networking
- 1:25pm-2:05p Guest Speaker
- 2:05p-3pm Round Table Activity II (middle school) - jello microfluidics
- 2:05p-3pm Round Table Activity II (high school/college) - pipetting
- 3:00p - 4:30p DJ/ Fun Activity Raffle
- 3:00p - 4:30p Career Fair/Tabling
