Berkeley Lab will be supporting STEM week for Oakland's Parks, Recreation & Youth Development Program's Summer Town Camp. Oakland youths (ages 6 - 12) will participate in various hands-on STEM activities.
STEM week will be held Tuesday, June 14 - Friday, June 17. Volunteers will be asked to be available 9:30 am - 11:30 am. Volunteer time includes training.
Volunteers will be asked to support hands-on STEM activity stations:
- Exploring circuits with Makey-makey
- Microscopy
- Spectroscopy Demo
- Bubbles Festival
STEM week will be in-person at the Rotary Nature Center at Lake Merritt (Oakland).
All volunteers participating in K-12 programs must complete an online working with minors course (~90 minutes), sign and submit a CANRA form, and pass a background check.
