Celebrate Earth Day by helping clean up local beaches, bays, and waterways on Saturday, April 19th

All volunteers will meet at the Shorebird Park Nature Center at the Berkeley Marina at 1 pm to receive a safety talk and supplies. Parking is limited, so consider taking a bike, carpool, or public transportation (AC Transit, bus 51B). Cleanup activities will take place from 1 pm to 4 pm along the Berkeley Waterfront and Aquatic Park.

Volunteers will also help compile data about trash and marine debris for one of the largest research projects in the world.

Please register through this portal to receive event details closer to the date, as well as through the City of Berkeley portal. All volunteers are required to sign a waiver before the event. After creating an account and registering for the event, you will be able to easily access the required waiver.

Instructions to register for shoreline cleanup

If you are able, please help us to reduce plastic waste by bringing your own supplies:

  • Bring a bucket or reusable bag 
  • Bring a lightweight pair of gardening gloves 
  • Bring a filled, reusable water bottle

Otherwise, buckets, bags, and gloves will be available for volunteers. Please email joselyn@lbl.gov if you have any questions about the event.
