The Experiences in Research program is a 6-week internship for high school students to work on cutting edge projects alongside experts at Berkeley Lab. Projects will be focused around different aspects of STEM professions including administration, science communication, coding, data science, and experimental research.
We will be providing a virtual spreadsheet/coding bootcamp for interns who will be using spreadsheets and/or coding in their internship projects so they have the skill sets needed to successfully complete their projects. We are looking for TAs for this bootcamp to work with students in small groups as they complete exercises. TAs will be given the exercises beforehand for review. The coding language will be Python and utilize Jupyter notebooks.
The bootcamp is scheduled to occur from 10am - 2:30pm on Saturday, June 3rd and 11am - 3:30pm on Sunday, June 4th. TAs can choose to attend one or both sessions, and can choose to attend in the morning (10am - 12pm) and/or the afternoon (12:30pm - 2:30pm).
Topics scheduled are as follows (topics are subject to change):
6/3 (Sat) - 10am - 12pm: Spreadsheet (Statistics and data visualization)
6/3 (Sat) - 12:30 - 2:30pm: Coding (Review of basics, functions, lists, dictionaries)
6/4 (Sun) - 11am - 1pm: Coding (Conditionals, loops)
