Empowerment in STEM Day is a one day event on Friday January 20, 2023, for local public high school students. The program prioritizes students from underrepresented genders in STEM. This event; co-hosted by Women’s Support and Empowerment Council (WSEC) and K-12 Programs at the main lab campus, is a chance to share what life in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) professions are like. This is an exciting opportunity to speak with students as they are deciding for themselves what it means to be a STEM professional.
We are seeking volunteers in all lab positions. All genders in STEM and STEM adjacent careers are welcome.
Lunch: Volunteers are welcome to join students for a one hour lunch located in the IGB building (bldg 91). The goal of this session is to provide students with an informal setting where they can meet lab staff and continue to interact with volunteers they met during workshops. You can choose to discuss your career trajectory, opportunities at the lab or take the time to learn more about the students.
Lunch will be at 12pm between morning and afternoon networking and shadowing sessions.
Attire: Please wear your Berkeley Lab shirt, favorite STEM paraphernalia and/or anything that relates to your career. This is an informal day.
