Empowerment in STEM Day is a one day event on Friday January 20, 2023, for local public high school students. This event; co-hosted by Women’s Support and Empowerment Council (WSEC) and K-12 Programs at the main lab campus, is a chance to share what life in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) professions are like. This is an exciting opportunity to speak with students as they are deciding for themselves what it means to be a STEM professional.
We are seeking volunteers in all lab positions. All genders in STEM and STEM adjacent careers are welcome.
Job Shadowing: The tour/shadowing will be about 2 hours, including transits to and from Building 50 Auditorium (TBD). During this time, you can talk about your pathway, your day-to-day job, and interactions with colleagues. Each volunteer will have about 4 to 5 students. We will need approximately 5-10 volunteers for the 2 job shadow sessions during the day. Each volunteer can choose to volunteer for either one or both of the job shadow sessions during the day.
Morning shift starts at 10 am and Afternoon shift starts at 1pm.

~10-15 minutes: Meet students at Bldg 50 Auditorium (TBD) and transit to your work space
