Seeking facilitators (virtual escape room, college essays review, and more!) for monthly Berkeley Lab Director's Apprenticeship Program workshops

Expired

Description

The Berkeley Lab Director’s Apprenticeship Program (BLDAP) for high school students seeks to remove systemic barriers, such as a lack of access to professional networks and work-based opportunities, by providing strong connections to the scientific community at Berkeley Lab. BLDAP is a project-based high school STEM apprenticeship program that will provide an opportunity for underrepresented students in STEM to develop 21st century skills, learn about Berkeley Lab’s business and research activities, receive college and career guidance, and develop a STEM network in a real-life work environment.

The 2021 cohort completed their summer program and will be participating in additional workshops throughout the fall and spring. We are looking for Berkeley Lab scientists and staff to join us in the workshops and engage with students. This can include participating in science-based workshops, reading and providing feedback for college essays, and participating in STEM-based challenges. All workshops will be organized and hosted by the K-12 team and only minimal prep work will be required from volunteers (though we also welcome volunteers who would like to run their own workshop!) The workshops will be virtual on Zoom until further notice.

Please contact K-12 Content & Instruction Coordinator, Alisa Bettale (abettale@lbl.gov), with any questions.
