Judge Registration for The Alameda County Science and Engineering Fair is OPEN
ACSEF 2023 will be an IN-PERSON Fair on Saturday, March 25 at Ohlone College Newark Center for Health Sciences and Technology located at 39399 Cherry St, Newark, CA 94560. See the Judges page at https://www.acsef.org/judges for the latest information and the Fair day schedule.
March 2023 update: 350 projects - highest in 5 years! We need more judges and invite you to register. Your expertise and feedback will greatly support our students in their research.
Judge Qualifications

In order to judge high school projects: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience or greater in the field they wish to judge.

In order to judge middle school projects: Associate’s degree or 2 years towards a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience or greater in the field they wish to judge.

Exceptions to this may be made based on related experience. Please contact us at judge.acsef@gmail.com prior to registration, we will be happy to find a judge or volunteer role for you.
How to Register as a Judge?

Go to our zFairs page: https://acsef.zfairs.com

New judges: Click "Create Account" and select Judge role in the dropdown. Fill out the survey with your information and availability.

Returning judges: use the Login button on the top right corner; when logged in, click on your name, click My Profile, and update with your 2023 information and availability. Contact us if you have any issues.

Our judging team will reach out to you with more information once registered. Organization-sponsored awards judges: register as described above. You will receive additional instructions from the award sponsor closer to the Fair.

There is no Alameda county residency requirement for judges, all ZIP codes are welcome.
Judge Training
There will be three online training sessions:

Wednesday, March 15, 2023, 7 - 8 PM (virtual)

Saturday, March 18, 2023, 12- 1 PM (virtual)

Monday, March 20, 2023, 7 - 8 PM (virtual)
Zoom links for these will be sent out closer to the fair date. It is mandatory for all judges to attend one session. If you are unable to attend, please please reach out to the judging team judge.acsef@gmail.com.
